Defamation Policy

At community engine, we provide a place where users can post freely about Organisations and experiences in their local communities (which may involve other users).

The views of our users are their own, however we ask that they honour the Terms and Community Guidelines they agreed to when they first registered and account with community engine. Defamation is strictly prohibited by both and it will not be tolerated at community engine.

If you consider that a post or other material on this site is defamatory, we recommend you take the following steps:

1. Report the content. Use the report abuse flags that appear next to all user content on community engine to flag content you believe is defamatory to our moderation team. This will allow rapid review of the content and may result in its removal.

However, if you believe the content is defamatory toward you, you will also need to

2. Submit a Defamation Claim Form to us. You will need to complete our Defamation Claim Form and provide the required details. You must send the completed form to the address shown on the form. If the form is incomplete, we will not be able to progress your claim. A separate form will need to be completed and submitted to us for each claim of defamation.

3. Consult a legal professional. The law of defamation is complex. Even if you think some material is defamatory, the law may consider there is a valid defence. You should seek legal advice and assess your claim carefully and seriously before you make any claims of defamation.

Once we have your completed form we will review the matter. We will usually contact you to tell you the outcome of our investigation and whether the material will be removed. If we have reason to believe the material is defamatory, we may remove it at our discretion. We may disclose details of your claim (including your personal information) to third parties such as the other party and our own advisors.

If you have any questions regarding this policy or process, please contact us via our Support form.
